Death To Real Estate Pitchinars?
Yeah, it’s a made-up word. I didn’t make it up. Some guy named Steve did (not Steve Cook).
But even so, I’ll bet you know exactly what I mean by it, don’t you?
If you’ve ever been to a seminar that promised you a quality education but found instead that everyone was really just trying to sell you something else, then you know all too well what I mean.
I’ve been there. We’ve all been there. And if you’ve ever been to one of our Flipping Homes bootcamps before, then you already know our philosophy is starkly different than most REI educators in this regard.
It’s not that we hate buying things, mind you. The honest truth is we’re all avid consumers and we’re all salesmen when it comes down to it.
The problem is the “bait and switch” where you feel promised one thing, only to find yourself getting a fraction of what you felt promised — and even that turns out to be a carrot designed to lure you on to the next purchase.
We (Steve and I) believe if you pay good money to invest in your education, you should get the goods. And we’re proud supporters of the “nothing held back” approach to education.
Another Pitch Free Seminar?
Our Flipping Homes events are always pitch free. This March’s event is no exception.
You may or may not have noticed it by now, but Mike Collins is promoting a “Pitch Free Seminar” in Tampa soon afterward in April. It’s actually the second time he’s done it. Seems like a good trend to me.
Browsing his line-up of speakers is like seeing a “who’s who” of wholesaling experts out there today. I see Cris Chico, Preston Ely, Heather Seitz, and…oh, look at that…Steve Cook? Why yes it is!
Now one thing about Steve – he doesn’t do much on the “speaking circuit” anymore. He prefers to stay home with the family, teach through FlippingHomes.com and avoid the “icky, pitchy” events for the most part.
This one’s an exception.
Here’s an interesting quote I picked up from the blog comments on Mike’s “Mini-Manifesto”…
1. Jim Said,
I have also attended many hotel seminars etc. and have spent thousands for the “expert” training which ultimately moves you from excited at the beginning of training to totally overwhelmed with brain overload at the end. I leave with no true direction and become aimless. I need a real world plan that has detailed steps, with who, what, where, why info. The pitches at the end are an extra insult as they eat up a lot of the program time that I had already paid for. I didn’t pay for wasted time to promote more slick sales pitches. Give me “just the facts maam.” If I want more purchase send me to a peer reviewed website where I can decide later.
Yep, that about sums it up, doesn’t it?
If you’re looking for a quality learning event, but you’re not able to make our March event for some reason, then you may want to consider this one as an alternative. It seems to be a quality event, with some really neat things that set it apart from most the “huckster” events in the industry.
And don’t forget to bring a big, extra, EMPTY suitcase if you do come. You’ll see why.
